A Novel Carrier Waveform Inter-Displacement Modulation Method in Underwater Communication Channel

چکیده
As the main way of underwater wireless communication, underwater acoustic communication is one of the focuses of ocean research. Compared with the free space wireless communication channel, the underwater acoustic channel suffers from more severe multipath effect, the less available bandwidth and the even complex noise. The underwater acoustic channel is one of the most complicated wireless communication channels. To achieve a reliable underwater acoustic communication, Phase Shift Keying (PSK) modulation and Passive Time Reversal Mirror (PTRM) equalization are considered to be a suitable scheme. However, due to the serious distortion of the received signal caused by the channel, this scheme suffers from a high Bit Error Rate (BER) under the condition of the low Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). To solve this problem, we proposes a Carrier Waveform InterDisplacement (CWID) modulation method based on the Linear Frequency Modulation (LFM) PSK and PTRM scheme. The new communication scheme reduces BER by increasing the difference from the carrier waveform for different symbols. Simulation results show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

Analysis of Doppler Effect in OFDM signals for Underwater Acoustic Channels
Acoustic communication is best supported at low frequency. Since the available bandwidth is less, higher order modulation techniques such as OFDM are employed. Inherent motion of the system poses stringent limitation on the synchronization issues. Thus modelling of multipath propagation especially Doppler Effect plays an important role in the efficient design of high data rate acoustic communic...

The reliable delivery of information over severe fading wireless or wired channels is a major challenge in communication systems. At the heart of every communication system is the physical layer, consisting of a transmitter, a channel and a receiver. A transmitter maps the input digital information into a waveform suitable for transmission over the channel. The communication channel distorts th...

Underwater acoustic communication systems suffer from the channel impairments which results in time spreading of the transmitted signal. In underwater environment, multiple replicas of the transmitted signal are received at the receiver through different paths, which causes significant Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI). Decision Feedback Equalizers (DFE) was utilized to overcome this type of inte...

Last years, Wavelet Packet Modulation (WPM) or Wavelet Packet Transform based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (WPT-OFDM) have been introduced to wired and wireless communication fields as efficient Multicarrier Modulation (MCM) techniques. The wavelets have interesting features such as flexibility, compatibility and localization in both time and frequency domains with no need to use ...
